Successful extraction and distillation is all about having the right equipment and having the knowledge to use it properly. Most producers are intently focused on increasing efficiency and reducing exposure of temperature-sensitive components in order to maximize end-product value. Closed-loop hydrocarbon extraction is the front-end of this process and requires equipment such as solvent tanks, vacuum pumps, dry ice cold traps and material columns.
Following extraction of the plant lipids, fats and waxes from the plant material, short path distillation removes any remaining solvents from what will be the finished product. Distillation employs equipment such as circulating chillers heating mantles, as well a laboratory glassware such fractionating columns, heating and recovery flasks, cows, and distillation heads.
